The Chirps of Marching Birds Remix

(London)

Remix and description by: Matthew Plummer-Fernandez
After examining Shantell's illustration I noticed some faintly visible birds flying in the distance, drawn in the same style that most people draw distant birds; stretched out 'm's. I wanted to know what their chirps sounded like so I converted the image of two bird examples into sounds, taking their X and Y position values to be time and frequency values, and the darkness of the pen markings to be the Volume value. The bird shapes actually translate into artificial bird chirps that you can now listen to when you see them flying around Shantell's pictures. The image I made is a 3-dimensional Time, Volume, Frequency graph of the chirp sounds; as expected they translate back into bird shapes.
